Richard Burger, Partner – WilmerHale

Richard Burger is a partner in the Investigations practice at WilmerHale in London. He has over 25 years’ experience in complex domestic and international regulatory enforcement and investigations. His practice spans all aspects of corporate investigations, securities enforcement, and financial services compliance.  He previously served with two of the UK’s financial regulators the FSA, the predecessor to the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA), and the Financial Reporting Council (FRC), and has been a named FCA Skilled Person. He has been in-house, on secondment, as the head of legal and compliance for a London market insurer, manging their regulatory relationships. Richard is a Chartered Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Securities and Investment (CISI), and currently sits as the Chair of the CISI’s Disciplinary Panel.

Simon Wilks, Partner – haymacintyre 

Simon joined haysmacintyre as a trainee in 1987 and qualified as a Chartered Accountant in 1990. He became a Partner in 1996 and was a member of haysmacintyre’s management from 2001 until 2013, the latter six years as Managing Partner. Simon’s involvement in management, means he offers strong commercial expertise when advising his clients. Simon advises a wide range of clients including entrepreneurial businesses, long-established international groups as well as membership organisations, with a particular focus on the Financial Services sector. This advice is given to the owners of these businesses, often high net worth individuals, as well as to the businesses themselves.

Simon started advising fund managers in 1998 and since then he has acted for over 150, helping them with the set-up of the business, financial management and taxation matters. In addition to fund managers, he also acts for corporate finance boutiques, research houses and other financial services entities.
