Paul Atkins
Partner, Head of Property Tax
Paul enjoys working collaboratively with clients, building strong long-lasting relationships to understand the commercial drivers of the business which enables pragmatic tax advice to be given whilst managing tax risk.
Whilst Paul focuses on the Property, Real Estate and Construction sector, he utilises his in-house experience more broadly to advise clients, based on his experience of being ‘on the other side’. He has also been involved in both vendor and purchaser due diligence and integration of acquired businesses, as well as tax governance and assurance.
Prior to joining haysmacintyre in 2023, Paul was Group Tax Director for Vistry Group Plc/Galliford Try Plc for over eight years, where he was responsible for all taxes for these housebuilding and construction businesses. Prior to that, Paul was in management positions at easyJet, KPMG, Luminar Plc, and top 20 accounting firms.
In addition to leading on property taxes for haysmacintyre, Paul is a member of the Chartered Institute of Taxation’s Property Taxes Technical Sub Committee. He also sits on the Construction Forum, the Land & Property Liaison Group, and other sector forums. In addition to this, he has worked closely with HMRC on the introduction of the VAT Domestic Reverse Charge in the Construction Sector and the Residential Property Developer Tax.
In his spare time, Paul enjoys playing football and attending the gym, as well as travelling, eating out, music, and spending time with his two children.
