Business Development Manager

The role and responsibilities

Working closely with Partners and Directors, the successful candidate will be responsible for driving business development activity through the corporate sectors, with the opportunity to develop and execute the targeting strategy across a number of service lines. For the right candidate, there is the ability to be market facing, developing sales opportunities directly with clients.

Sales Strategy and Pipeline

  • Work with Sector Heads to develop and deliver a Business Development strategy across the Corporate sectors.
  • Work closely with Non-Audit Service teams to identify revenue growth through both the existing client base and new market opportunities.
  • Proactively secure meetings with clients and targets in line with the identified strategies above.
  • Champion and role model best practice sales behaviours in line with the firmwide sales methodology.
  • Promote best practice in maintaining the firmwide pipeline in the new CRM system.
  • Potential to develop a key account programme across the firm.


  • Where necessary, contribute client and sector knowledge, coaching and best practice advice to develop compelling proposals and pitches.

Events and campaigns

  • Attend networking events to build strong relationships with key referrers.
  • Work closely with the Marketing managers to follow up from key events, campaigns and sponsorships, in order to set and maximise ROI.

    • Experience in developing and executing Business Development strategies in a relationship/advisory based environment.
    • Experience in building and executing a commercial targeting plan.
    • Working knowledge and use of a sales methodology to drive best practice.
    • Experienced in influencing senior stakeholders.
    • Proven success in developing external key influencer relationships to commercial benefit.
  • Desirable
    • Experienced in professional services or partnership environment.
    • Success working directly with clients.
    • Experience of a proposal and pitch scenarios.
    • Delivering ROI on events and campaigns.
    • Relational databases and/or CRM systems.
