Katharine advises individuals, businesses and trusts on all aspects of their tax compliance responsibilities and advisory requirements.
With a focus on private client issues, Katharine provides practical assistance to clients on a wide range of issues, including:
- Domicile
- Residence
- Individuals coming to and leaving the UK
- Property ownership, including the recently introduced Annual Tax on Enveloped Dwellings (ATED)
- Capital Gains Tax
Her clients also benefit from her advice on:
- Self employment
- Partnerships
- Tax planning
- HMRC enquiries and International Information Exchange agreements
She has particular expertise in Inheritance Tax and estate planning as well as UK and offshore trusts, and has established haysmacintyre’s new range of probate services.
Katharine is a Chartered Accountant and Chartered Tax Adviser and is a member of the Taxation Committee of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Scotland (ICAS). Katharine has previously worked for Big 4 and Top 20 advisory firms.
She has often been quoted in the general and tax press, presents at seminars and hopes to translate sometimes overly technical tax issues and opportunities into plain English.
Away from the office, Katharine enjoys travel, wildlife and photography and combining all three whenever she can.
