VAT

We are VAT specialists – that’s a given. What sets us apart is how we communicate that expertise. We don’t quote chapter and verse from HMRC regulations; we’ll answer your VAT questions directly and in plain English. Of course, the final decision is yours, but we’ll always give you the advice we think is in your best interests.

Why haysmacintyre

Our VAT team is larger than those in many mid-tier firms and our breadth of experience reflects the variety of clients we work for.

On any day, we might be advising on an international sports event, a multi-million pound restoration of a heritage asset and the acquisition of an extensive property portfolio. Certainly we’ll be glad to help you set up for VAT, get you registered and complete your return, but the majority of what we do is advisory. Clients come to us and stay with us, for our skills at demystifying VAT and simplifying their situation.

The key to this is our understanding of what you do and how you do it. Utilising the varied backgrounds of our team, we put ourselves in your shoes and advise accordingly – thinking and working as part of your team. Our analytical yet personable approach, means we’re highly proficient at solving your VAT problems.

We can advise on the whole range of VAT services and queries, whether you’re running a Not for Profit organisation, a company of any size or come to us as a private client. We’ll guide you through all the various reliefs and grey areas to present a clear picture of your options and our recommendations.

HMRC has become increasingly determined to maximise its revenue and for some clients that can seem worrying. Yet a rational, objective response usually succeeds. On the very rare occasions we have to resolve a VAT dispute in court, the result is almost always in our client’s favour.

Brexit may mean we’re no longer part of the EU, but Europe is still our biggest market, and we work regularly for clients active in UK/EU trading. We work with MSI global alliance in Europe and around the world, to ensure the smoothest possible VAT transactions and compliance on exports and imports.

I like that you have a one-stop shop, not just one accounting discipline…we often get complex VAT scenarios, require corporate tax advice or simply need employment guidance etc and they have never let me down. I’d put haysmacintyre at the top. I think they just get it from a client perspective.
