Year End Tax Planning 2019/20 Briefing

28th February 2020

Welcome to our Year End Tax Planning Briefing, in which we highlight a number of issues and actions for consideration in advance of the end of the current tax year on 5 April 2020.

Act now to reduce your tax bill – take advantage of all reliefs and exemptions, available to you, and plan for the new tax year. You may also wish to plan in advance of the Budget, which is scheduled for 11 March; likely changes include the restriction or abolition of Entrepreneurs’ Relief for Capital Gains Tax. Whilst rumours of further restrictions to tax relief for pensions seem to have abated, there’s a short window now to utilise your full annual allowance (tapered to as little as £10,000 for higher earners) before 5 April.
